Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the last date for Registration?
The last date to register for the GP Rating and Trainee GS Examination is 04 March 2024.
The last date to register for the Deck Cadet, Engine Cadet, DNS and Graduate Marine Engineer Examination is 12 April 2024.

2. Is the application open for the February or August batch?
The examination is conducted for the August batch onwards only.

3. Can I apply for the Synergy Examination if my 12th PCM is below 60%?
No, as per DG Shipping’s Criteria, that PCM must be minimum 60%.

4. What are the eligibility criteria for DNS/GME/Deck/Engine?
These are listed on the Synergy portal. Kindly visit https://synergyexam.excelindia.com/Synergy/ to know more.

5. Is it possible to edit the application after completing the payment?
We regret that changes cannot be made once the payment process is completed. Kindly fill in the correct details and select the examination carefully.

6. In which Institute will I get DNS/GME sponsorship?
The choice is based on Synergy’s MoU with various training Institutes, and choices will be shared during the interview process. The allotment of the training Institute will be decided by Synergy, and will depend on several factors such as the candidate’s exam rank and interview and overall performance.

7. Is it possible to change test centers?
We regret that changes cannot be made once the payment process is completed, so please select the test center carefully.

8. I have applied for the wrong examination. Is it possible to get a refund so that I can apply again for the correct examination?
We regret that no refund could be given and a candidate would have to re-register, by the applicable deadline, for the correct examination.

9. Can 1st Year B.Sc. Nautical Science students apply for the Deck Cadet examination?
No. This is for 2nd Year students, and provided of course that they meet all other criteria.

10. When will the application for ETOs be open?
We will post soon on whether we are recruiting for this position in 2024.
