1. What is the Synergy Common Entrance Test 2026?
This is an online examination conducted by Synergy Marine Group for candidates seeking sponsorship into the Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) programme, which leads to a B.Sc. Nautical Science qualification upon successful completion.
The examination forms part of the selection process for candidates aspiring to build a professional career at sea.
2. Does sponsorship include course fees?
No. Sponsorship is provided for placement into Synergy Maritime Training Institute or another DG-approved Maritime Training Institute (MTI) assigned by Synergy. Course fees are to be borne by the candidate as per the institute’s guidelines.
3. Who is eligible to apply for this examination?
Candidates must:
- Be born on or after 01 December 2001
- Be not more than 25 years of age at course commencement
- Have scored minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in Class XII
- Have scored minimum 50% in English in Class X or XII
- Have passed or be appearing for Class XII (2026 batch eligible)

4. Is IMUCET mandatory for selection?
Yes. Qualifying in IMUCET is mandatory to be eligible for the interview and final selection process, irrespective of performance in the Synergy entrance examination.
5. What is the exam pattern and syllabus?
- Total Questions: 200 MCQs
- Duration: 180 minutes
- Section A: 100 knowledge-based questions (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics – CBSE/ICSE syllabus)
- Section B: 100 questions on English & Aptitude (verbal, numerical, non-verbal reasoning, geography)
- Marking Scheme:
- +1 for correct answers
- -0.25 for incorrect answers
- No marks for unanswered questions
6. Where will the examination be conducted?
The examination will be conducted online at registered test centres. Details regarding the test centre, reporting time, and instructions will be shared after successful registration.
7. Is there any special consideration during selection?
Yes. Candidates holding NCC ‘A’, ‘B’, or ‘C’ certificates will be given special consideration during the interview stage.
8. What happens after clearing the examination?
