Capt Unni

The Founder and Executive Chairman of Synergy Marine Group, Capt. Unni’s illustrious maritime career spans more than 30 years. Renowned for his innovative and forward-thinking leadership on sustainability, diversity and technology, and his ability to forge thought and technical partnerships with like-minded companies. A passionate marathoner, Captain Unni is vocal supporter of shipping’s net zero emissions ambition by 2050. He is a leading business creator, committed family man and determined philanthropist.

Founder and Executive Chairman

Kamalakannan has 26 years of maritime experience. He was appointed Marine Superintendent at Synergy’s Marine Advanced Simulation Training Department in 2014 and is now the Training Superintendent there, supervising all training and regularly updating course content. He firmly believes that teamwork between departments has a significant positive impact on seafarers’ lives, and enjoys films and listening to music.

Gobinda Chandra Sahoo

Gobinda spent fifteen years at sea, including five years as a Chief Engineer on LPG carriers. He has been with MOL-Synergy since 2019 as Technical Superintendent (Training), responsible for educating seafarers as in-charge of ME-C engine course. Gobinda maintains that Synergy’s congenial and productive work environment has helped him strike a healthy work-life balance. He loves reading and playing cricket.

Capt. Manoj Eapen Chacko

Manoj joined Synergy in 2008 and became the company’s first Master. Now, as a Senior Marine Superintendent with MOL Synergy Marine (India) Private Ltd, and with 42 years of maritime service, he trains seafarers for Synergy-managed vessels. Manoj always credits the organisation with making him feel at home, and exercises to keep fit, ready for cricket, football, and badminton.

R. Balasubramanian

With three decades of experience, Balasubramanian is a qualified marine engineer (with both steam and motor certification), quality auditor and trainer. He joined the Synergy family in 2014 and designs and delivers customised training packages with an emphasis on simulator solutions. Balasubramanian describes Synergy as a great workplace, due to agility, an open environment and the right blend of experience.

Capt. Ramkumar N

Ramkumar started his career with Synergy in 2009 as a sailing crew member and later transferred to the QHSE division in 2013. Since 2014, he has served as a Senior Marine Superintendent. Synergy’s core values of empathy, respect, and empowerment have fostered in him a sense of belonging with the organisation. Ramkumar’s pastimes include portrait drawing and listening to music.

Dr Sairam K

As part of 27 years of seagoing and shoreside expertise in combustion, energy, fuels, and training, Sairam joined Synergy in 2016, where he found purpose, passion and fulfilment. He is now a Senior Technical Superintendent at one of Synergy’s training centres, where his responsibilities include developing modules and simulator scenarios, and has a keen interest in astrology and tuning cars.

Capt. Satheesh Ramkumar Capt. Satheesh Ramkumar

With over two decades of maritime experience, Satheesh joined MOL Synergy as a Marine Superintendent. His expertise helps ensure that our seafarers are trained to operate in line with Synergy’s industry-leading standards. He especially finds it easy to move the needle with Synergy’s supportive management. Satheesh enjoys spending his weekends playing cricket.

Capt. Sowrirajan Varada

Having spent over 25 years at sea, Sowrirajan joined the Marine Advanced Simulation and Training (MAST) team in 2021 as a Marine Superintendent. He brings along with him expertise that he uses to train our seafarers to excel in shipboard operations. He appreciates the transparency and support that Synergy’s work environment offers. Sowrirajan finds his Zen through yoga and meditation.

Capt. Venkataraman R

Venkataraman joined Synergy in 2013 after an extensive career of 25 years. His vast seagoing experience comes in handy, especially as a trainer, which he believes is crucial role in ensuring the safe management of ships. Passionate about creating educational and corporate videos, his hobbies include singing, music production, sound engineering, and endurance cycling.

Synergy Marine Group is a member of The Getting to Zero Coalition, dedicated to launching zero-emission deep-sea vessels by 2030 and achieving full decarbonisation by 2050. The Global Maritime Forum, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum and Friends of Ocean Action, founded and manages the Coalition.

Synergy Marine Group is part of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), a global initiative striving for a corruption-free maritime industry, promoting fair trade for the greater societal good.

INTERCARGO

Synergy Marine Group is a part of INTERCARGO, an association championing safe, efficient, and eco-friendly shipping. INTERCARGO collaborates with the International Maritime Organization and other global entities to shape maritime legislation.

IMEC

Synergy Marine Group is part of IMEC, a top maritime employers’ group championing fair and sustainable labor practices. Representing global employers, IMEC negotiates seafarers’ wages and conditions, and invests in workforce development.

IMPA

Synergy Marine Group is involved in IMPA Save’s initiative to reduce single-use water bottles at sea. The IMPA SAVE council comprises top global shipowners and suppliers, representing over 8000 vessels with significant combined purchasing influence.

All Aboard

Synergy Marine Group is a key participant in The All Aboard Alliance’s Diversity@Sea initiative. As one of eleven prominent maritime companies, we aim to foster inclusivity at sea and directly address challenges faced by women seafarers.

CSSF

Synergy Marine Group is part of the Container Ship Safety Forum (CSSF), a global B2B network dedicated to enhancing safety and management standards in the container shipping sector.

Synergy Marine Group is affiliated with Danske Rederier, the primary industry and employers’ association for Danish shipping—Denmark’s top export sector. Danske Rederier actively engages with authorities and policymakers both domestically and globally.
