Day of the seafarer celebration at Synergy Makati 2024

With safety, pride and iSTEER as the key themes, on 25 June our Makati office celebrated the IMO Day of the Seafarer in a very special way as Synergy Group Operations Inc hosted a local tribute in the Day of the Filipino Seafarer.

Placards and other signage offered stirring, resounding and in all ways truthful phrases in Tagalog as well as English, and a mix of Filipino and Filipina seafarers and shore-based support staff made the event a memorable one as they competed in varied open mike, loud karaoke, quiet chess and dexterous jenga and came together to share maritime wisdom in a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere of learning, acknowledgment and fun.

Conspicuous amid the various treats available, Tony’s Ice Cream cart was ready for the brisk business that soon followed, and an impromptu massage parlour was always busy as many discovered a new route to relaxation and well-being. Financial advice was offered by Land Bank of the Philippines, with details on GoBayani, a new savings account specially for OFWs, an abbreviation whose common usage must nowadays include the ever increasing Filipina workforce, and the sustainable nature of the generous gift bags gave everyone further food for thought as they parted with a heightened awareness of their position in the surrounding city, role in the global Group and significance in the seafaring world.
