The global maritime industry is at the forefront of a critical energy transition, propelled by the urgent need to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. Discussions at the recent Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 82) underscored the sector’s collective commitment to this goal, highlighting the pivotal role of innovative vessels and sustainable practices.
In alignment with these efforts, the ARCTIC TERN, a 48,000 dwt dual-fuel chemical tanker and the world’s largest of its kind, was honoured with Green Ship Status under the Singapore Registry of Ships (SRS) Green Ship Programme (GSP). Managed by Synergy Marine Group the ARCTIC TERN exemplifies how technical innovation and operational excellence can drive decarbonisation across the maritime sector.

At the 2024 SRS Forum, held on 28 October 2024 , the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) presented the prestigious Green Ship Certificate to BoCom Leasing, the vessel’s owner and operator. Synergy Marine Group was privileged to accept this recognition on behalf of the owners, with Fleet Manager Datharam Gambhira representing Synergy during the ceremony.
