In February 2022 an appreciative UK Met Office recognized the Synergy-managed and UK flagged tanker “KMARIN RESOLUTION” with the Gold Award for its performance in 2021 as part of the Voluntary Observing Fleet. This requires a vessel to submit at least 350 sets of weather observations to a high standard of accuracy.

On 30 January 2023, the “RESOLUTION” and four other Synergy-managed and UK-flagged KMARIN tankers – the “RESOURCE”, the “REGARD”, the “RESPECT” and the “RIGOUR” – were all this time given a Platinum Award for sending between 500 and 799 qualifying sets of readings during 2022.

Noting that, in another difficult and challenging year, the overall performance of the Synergy observing fleet had been excellent, the Met Office kindly concluded with warm thanks to all captains and their crews for continued participation in the international Voluntary Observing Ship Scheme, which is in aid of improved marine forecasts and increased safety for all at sea.

The Synergy Group is delighted to help in this way and extends warmest regards to all crew who, with demanding onboard roles, also maintain the specialist Met Office equipment and so regularly take detailed readings and submit high-quality and important data.  The recognition received from the UK Met Office highlights the commitment and professionalism of the Synergy observing fleet in ensuring the safety of those at sea.
