The Mission To Seafarers Honors Welfare Award – 2018

The international maritime welfare charity, The Mission to Seafarers, saw the inaugural chapter of Seafarers Awards at a gala dinner in Singapore, the fund raiser event which raised over S$140,000 ($104,000) was aimed at recognizing those who have contributed immensely towards growth and betterment of seafaring community.

The jury panel comprised of

  • Capt. Kuba Szymanski – Secretary General of Inter Manager.
  • Marlon Roño – President and CEO of Magsaysay People Resources Corporation.
  • Esben Poulsson – Chairman of The International Chamber of Shipping.
  • The Revd Andrew Wright – Secretary General of The Mission to Seafarers.

Capt. Rajesh Unni, Founder and CEO of Synergy Group, for his contribution towards the welfare of seafaring community was presented with “Seafarers’ Welfare Award”. In addition to low interest rate financial support extended to seafarers, he was also commended for his initiatives to support gender equality in the maritime workforce. Capt. Unni’s philanthropic vision lead him to be a trustee of a renowned Cancer hospital in India where seafarers can avail free treatment with access to blood bank for no additional cost. The award recognized Capt. Unni’s impressive and unbiased lifetime commitment for the welfare of the seafarers.

Synergy Marine Group is involved in IMPA Save’s initiative to reduce single-use water bottles at sea. The IMPA SAVE council comprises top global shipowners and suppliers, representing over 8000 vessels with significant combined purchasing influence.

Synergy Marine Group is a key participant in The All Aboard Alliance’s Diversity@Sea initiative. As one of eleven prominent maritime companies, we aim to foster inclusivity at sea and directly address challenges faced by women seafarers.
