Our Work

In following our pursuit of the vision, Synergy Trust has adopted the Special School for Migrant Children at Egattur, Chennai, India. Education for migrant and stateless children aims to provide all children access to a quality and recognized education, as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Special School for migrant children is conducted for the children between the ages of 6 to 14 years. Children from class-I to Class VII are admitted, and they are taught according to the syllabus prescribed by the government. These schools were started in view of motivating the children who were just wandering in the construction sites. They were exposed to scorching sun and taking care of their own young siblings at temporary shelters. They were prone to accidents and unnatural deaths. To avoid all these unwanted activities, Special school for the migrant children was formed. Children who complete their studies in the special schools will be issued transfer certificate as they go back to their native places.

The special school caters to close to 100 children from various parts of the country. The parents are laborers working in nearby construction projects. Synergy Trust intends to support the children’s overall development needs and education in their native languages as well as English.
